Powerclean Chemicals Limited is a family-run business that formulates and manufactures premium white label cleaning chemicals in the UK. Founded in 1980 by Stephen Coulter, Powerclean Chemicals is proud to be one of the industry’s leading chemical manufacturers, with over 45 years of experience in the trade.

Our Story

Back in 1978, our founder, Stephen Coulter, was selling pressure washers for a large firm in the UK. But with an extreme passion for chemistry, Stephen knew he could manufacture premium cleaning chemicals that could be offered with the pressure washers that he was selling. After suggesting this to his boss at the time, and the idea getting swiftly rejected(!), he took the initiative to use his spare time in formulating his very first TFR (Traffic Film Remover), a product that could be applied to vehicles without the need for sponging or brushing.

Steve made his first batch of TFR in his garden shed using a 200 litre drum and a wooden paddle to blend in the ingredients. Once the product was fully mixed and stable, he would decant the TFR into 20 litre drums, which he would then put into the back of his van and travel all across East Anglia searching high and low for companies to trial his product. After a few successful trial runs, Steve made the decision to leave his job as a pressure washer salesman and become a full-time, self-employed chemical manufacturer. In 1980, he founded Powerclean Chemicals.

As the years passed, Powerclean were supplying TFRs to various cleaning equipment distributors, offering these companies the chance to sell the TFR under their own brand. After the success of these white label products, Steve and Powerclean moved into a factory in the Suffolk Coastal town of Leiston, where we still operate to this day.

• Bespoke Formulating: If we don’t already have a product you require, we will take your requirements on board to create the product YOU want.
• Filling Operations: We fill all of the products in house using various techniques and equipment. We fill product sizes: 5Ltr, 25Ltr, 200Ltr and 1000Ltr IBC’s.
• Quality Compliance: Powerclean Chemicals Limited is proudly ISO9001 certified, so we always comply with a high standard.
